The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) New Mexico District Office has announced the 20 small businesses, champions and lenders named 2018 SBA New Mexico Small Business Week Award Winners.
Debbi Moore, president and CEO of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce was winner of the New Mexico Legacy Award. She was the lone Las Cruces-area recipient.
No one from Las Cruces won in 2017.
Since 1963, National Small Business Week has been set as the first week in May. This year the dates are April 30-May 5, with local celebrations and events hosted by SBA throughout the country to honor outstanding small business owners, champions and lenders.
All 20 New Mexico winners will be recognized at a breakfast awards ceremony at Sandia Golf Club in Albuquerque on Wednesday, May 2, 7:30 a.m., hosted by the SBA, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network. “SBA recognizes these small business honorees for their extraordinary contributions to strengthening our state’s economy and creating jobs,” according to an SBA news release.
“Small business is vital to New Mexico’s economy. Our 152,500 small businesses employ over 95 percent of the state’s private workforce,” said SBA New Mexico District Director John M. Garcia in the news release. “During Small Business Week, we celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit so important to our state and thank our small business community for their dedication and commitment to growing our economy.
“The SBA invites you to join us for our annual awards ceremony and also invites communities across the state to participate by recognizing small businesses during Small Business Week.”
