Sept. 28 meeting to map future of county’s Jetport

A public information workshop and open house to discuss the Jetport Multi-modal Master Plan and Jetport Layout Plan Update Study will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2016, at the Doña Ana County International Jetport in Santa Teresa.

The documents at the heart of the workshop are the result of an initiative that began in 2015. Completion is anticipated later this year.

A Planning Advisory Committee has been meeting throughout the study to provide input during work sessions. Following the committee’s next meeting, the public information workshop will allow the community a chance to learn about the study’s findings, ask questions and provide input.

The workshop will be held in a drop-in style, open-house format with public comment sheets available for completion. Presentation boards will be displayed to show various airside development alternatives with emphasis on options for the development of a crosswind runway.

A handout will be available that summarizes the study’s findings to date, including potential air cargo activity. Draft materials published throughout the study period also will be available for review.

The airport manager and consulting team will be on hand to answer questions and collect comments.
