Big Media Signs of El Paso vinyl graphic installers Miguel Lopez, left, and Steven Perez install a vinyl art wrap to a traffic-signal cabinet on the corner of Church Street and Griggs Avenue Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, as part of the Las Cruces Arts and Cultural District (ACD) Coordinating Council mini-murals public art project. A total of nine cabinets within the the downtown area are being wrapped with art created by Las Cruces artists. The one at Church and Griggs is called “Viva L’Arte” by Anahy Nuñez. Coordinating Council member Irene Oliver-Lewis was on hand for the installation and said the council is hopeful the project can be expanded to include the entire city. The project is funded by New Mexico MainStreet, Downtown Las Cruces Partnership and Court Youth Center. The wraps are expected to last about five years.
