Conduct independent investigation

Posted

To the editor: Open letter to the Board of the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley: I have been told that ASCMV releases sick kittens to other organizations for care/foster. I have also been told that many of these had died shortly thereafter.

Here’s the potential problem: ASCMV may report these kittens as “successfully live-released,” which is a misconstruction of what ultimately occurred. Furthermore, one does not know how frequently this potentially occurs, not only with cats and kittens, but also with dogs and puppies.

I am writing to respectfully request that this whole issue be thoroughly independently investigated and researched by a neutral third party.

ASCMV consumes a large amount of public funds and as such has a duty to be fully accountable and transparent to the taxpayers.
