Downtown Desert Yoga has didgeridoo, chakra classes, Aug. 12-14

Posted

Downtown Desert Yoga, 303 S. Alameda Blvd., will host three “Energetics” sound healing sessions with internationally recognized professional didgeridoo musician and sound therapist Joseph Carringer Aug. 12-14.

The sessions are

  • Didgeridoo journey medication: 5-6:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, $35;
  • Chakra clearing medication: 2:30-4:30, Saturday, Aug. 13, $45;
  • Gentle sound yoga flow and catered lunch: 10 a.m.-noon, Sunday, Aug. 14, $35.

Private sessions with Carringer are available Friday and Sunday afternoons and Saturday morning for $75. Book private sessions only at didgetherapy.com/didgeridoo-private sessions.

The didgeridoo is a wind instrument that may trace its origins to western Australia centuries ago. The name likely comes from the sound the instrument makes.

Carringer “presents and performs both nationally and internationally on mind/body connection and the effects of didgeridoo sound therapy for the purposes of clearing energetic and emotional stagnation within the energetic body to wellness and healthy lifestyle seekers, as well as to medical and holistic professionals,” according to http://didgetherapy.com/biography-joseph-carringer.

Carringer will be making his third visit to Las Cruces, he said, as part of the workshop tours he has been doing professionally since 2004. The Las Cruces sessions will be the first workshops he has held since the start of the pandemic.

Carringer said the workshops are for people with all levels of experience with meditation, including those who have not tried it before.

“The didgeridoo and the sounds it produces are a good way to get into meditation,” said Carringer, who is based in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. “It’s (also) a great tool to … deepen their practice.”

Discounts are available for those who attend more than one session.
