Posted

Attorney Jannette Mondragón was appointed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to fill a vacant seat on the Doña Ana County Magistrate bench, the governor’s office announced Friday.

The appointment fills the seat vacated by Judge Rebecca Duffin, who was appointed to Third Judicial District court in January. The appointment will begin April 27.

According to a bio published in Indian Law Times while she was a board member of the State Bar of New Mexico’s Indian law section, Mondragón is an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation born and raised in El Paso, Texas. The governor’s office highlighted her degrees from New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico School of Law. She has worked as an assistant district attorney in Sandoval County, a staff attorney with the Border Immigration Law and Justice Center and recently with the New Mexico Chief Support Enforcement Division.
