Aggie Athletics Kickoff

Posted

Football: Kickoff time has been announced for the New Mexico State University home opener Saturday, Aug. 27. The game against Nevada will start at 8 p.m. at Aggie Memorial Stadium. In addition, the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

"I don't think people truly understand that environment,” new Aggie coach Jerry Kill said of the national exposure. "When you say, 'Hey, we're going to be on ESPN', that's a big deal to recruits and a big deal to our university… It's a great way to show our school off. It's a great way to highlight what we're doing here. It's a great way to show Las Cruces off."

Expect a good crowd, as more than 17,000 seats have already been sold. Plenty of tickets remain to the Nevada game and the entire 2022 home schedule, available now through the Pan American ticket office. As always, NM State students are admitted to all home sporting events with their student ID.

Women’s golf: NM State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced women's golf head coach Danny Bowen has signed a contract extension through the 2025-26 academic year.

Coming off of his third consecutive Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Award, Bowen hopes to lead NM State to an NCAA Regional appearance, the 21st in program history. Last season, the Aggies went to the NCAA Albuquerque Regional.

Bowen, a 2006 graduate of NM State, enters his sixth season as head coach. After securing the Aggies' seventh WAC Championship in eight seasons, Bowen and company look to finish their time in the conference on a high note.

Women’s soccer: The Aggie women returned from a season-opening West Coast trip where they fell to Oregon 2-0 Aug. 18, and tied Cal State-Fullerton 2-2 Aug. 21. They’ll play Texas A&M on the road Aug. 27 before returning for their home opener Thursday, Sept. 1, for a 7 p.m. game against UTEP.
