Golf: NM State golfer Garrison Smith  punched his ticket to the NCAA Tournament after winning the individual title at the WAC Men's Golf Championships in Nevada. Over the course of three days April 28-30, Smith broke the 21-year old WAC Men's Golf Championship record by shooting a 197 (-19). Smith became the first individual champion for NM State since 2014 when Pay Beyhan won. On the final day, Smith shot a 68 (-4), including an eagle on hole 14 to run away with  the individual title. No player managed to stay within seven shots of Smith with Davis Heslington of Utah Tech finishing as the runner up (204, -12). As a team, NM State finishes in second place to Grand Canyon, shooting 835 on the weekend.

Baseball:  NM State hosts Seattle in a trio of weekend Western Athletic Conference games Friday through Sunday, May 5-7, at Presley Askew Field. The Friday game starts at 6 p.m. Saturday’s starts at 2 p.m. Sunday is a noon game.

The Aggies are 8-16 in conference after losing two of three to Sacramento State April 28-30 at Presley Askew Field.

After xxxxx a non-conference home game X-X to the University of New Mexico May 2 in Albuquerque, the Aggies are 11-28 overall.

Softball: The Aggies host Abilene Christian in a trio of weekend WAC games Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, at the NM State Softball Complex. Friday is a doubleheader with games at 4 and 6:30 p.m. The Saturday game starts at 4 p.m. NM State is 19-24 on the season and 8-13 in conference play after losing three games April 28-29 at Stephen F. Austin.
