Aggies, Lobos to clash in baseball Tuesday at 'Skew

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a weekend trip to Phoenix, the NM State baseball team will return to Presley Askew Field for their second meeting against in-state rival New Mexico on Tuesday night. With the action being streamed on the WAC Digital Network, fans from across the state can tune in for the Tuesday throwdown for free. 

AGGIE FACTS 

  • This will be the second meeting of the season between the Aggies and Lobos. In the first Rio Grande Rivalry matchup, New Mexico escaped victorious.
  • The final two meetings will take place in Albuquerque on May 10 and 17. 
  • NM State is coming off of a 1-2 weekend where they took the Saturday contest from Grand Canyon, who was receiving votes in the NCBWA Poll last week.
  • March was not kind to NM State as the Aggies finished 5-11 in the month. 
  • Lyle Hibbits will make his first start since 2020 for the Aggies on Tuesday night. Hibbits has made six relief appearances for NM State this season. 
  • With a home run on Sunday, Logan Gallina leads the Aggies with eight home runs and 21 runs batted in throughout the 2022 campaign.
  • Brandon Dieter hit safely in all four games for NM State last week including a three-hit performance against the Lobos.

ABOUT THE LOBOS 

  • Last weekend, New Mexico was swept by UNLV in a three-game series in Albuquerque. UNLV outscored the Lobos 57-13 in the conference series and boosted their record to 11-1 in Mountain West play. 
  • After the win in Las Cruces last week, the Lobos are 6-7 on the road and 0-4 in neutral site games. 
  • Terrell Hudson will make his first collegiate start on Tuesday night. Hudson has a 7.20 ERA in 5.0 innings of work this season. 
  • New Mexico won the first meeting against the Aggies 19-2 behind a career-high 6.0 innings from Matt Haley.
