“American Idiot” opens


Blank Conversations Theatre Company (BCTC) and the Rio Grande Theatre (RGT) present “Green Day’s American Idiot,” the musical in six performances, Friday, Jan. 20-Sunday, Jan. 29, at RGT, 313 N. Main St. downtown. The Las Cruces production features three main characters, Johnny (Riley Merritt), Tunny (Tim Wilbur) and Will (Hugo de Billie. The cast also includes JJ Hanley, Mattie Rumnier, Yocelin Torres, Zane Chaffee, Chad Gonzales and an ensemble that includes Reagan Szulc, Joshua Jackson, Ben Ramsey, Peyton Womble, Kareli Melendrez and Dawn Franco. The show, written by written by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, is directed by Gus David Sanchez. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Jan. 20-21 and 27-28 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 and 29. Tickets are $25 and are available at www.riograndetheatre.org.
