Four communities in Doña Ana County have received almost $3.8 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding distributed in July by the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).

Anthony, New Mexico received $1,141,106; Hatch received $201,742; Mesilla received $226,960; and Sunland Park received $2,219,168. Each community will receive the same amount in a year.

The state received the federal funds June 23 and disbursed them to provide assistance to

households, cover the cost of pay for work performed during the public health emergency, replace lost

revenue and make investments in water, sewer and broadband, DFA said in a news release.

The City of Las Cruces received a direct ARPA allocation from the U.S. Treasury of $12,379,913 in May. A second ARPA payment of the same amount will be received approximately one year from that date.

Doña Ana County also received a direct ARPA allocation of $21,190,910 in May, with the same amount to be awarded again in one year.

The New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee (LFC) said ARPA funds, approved by Congress in March, brought $7.1 billion to New Mexico, including $2.6 billion in direct payments to individuals and $1.62 billion to state government.

Six rounds of stimulus bills from Congress have infused $18.9 billion in money and services into New Mexico, the LFC newsletter said.
