The Las Cruces Arts and Cultural District (ACD) is seeking applicants to fill open positions on the committee. The council, a standing committee under Downtown Las Cruces Partnership (DLCP) is the strategic body behind the economic, cultural and historic development of the district. The council is comprised of eight community stakeholders from a cross-section of sectors including: City government, Doña Ana Arts Council, DLCP, New Mexico State University, district business owners, artisans, Mesquite Historic District residents, and experts in heritage, cultural preservation, and the creative economy. Open seats include representatives of the Mesquite Historic District, business owners, artisans, and related field experts. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 16, 2022.
“The Las Cruces Arts and Cultural District received an international arts award for its diverse public and private creative economy industries in the culinary, visual, performing arts and literature. As a co-founder of the ACD, I strongly invite innovative and energetic individuals to apply as a council member to lead our community in artistic and creative opportunities in the Arts and Cultural District,” says Irene Oliver Lewis.
The ACD Coordinating Council meets monthly and collaborates to execute district-wide projects that celebrate culture, local arts and artists such as the downtown window painting event, Ventanas Vivas, Artists in Residence program, the Generations Community Writing Project, and the upcoming Literary Arts Festival.
