Atom Bomb Studio celebrates 10th anniversary

Posted

Tattoo artists “Xombi” Aaron Valenzuela and Anahy Nuñez opened Atom Bomb Studio Dec. 21, 2012, and celebrated their 10th anniversary a few weeks ago.

Nuñez is a Las Cruces native. Valenzuela was born in Albuquerque and moved back to Las Cruces with his family at age 3. The two met at a sports camp in elementary school. They live near their shop and love being a part of downtown Las Cruces.

They began silk screening, but “it wasn’t art the way I wanted to do art,” Valenzuela said. “I like being able to create things that didn’t exist before and tattooing lets you do that in a big way.”

“Tattoos are crazy powerful,” Nuñez said.

“I want people to show it off with pride,” Valenzuela said of his tattoos. “If a client can come around and say, ‘I love my tattoo,’ you’ve done your job to the nth degree.”

Along with the newest member of the crew, Chris Candia, Valenzuela and Nuñez “have been creating custom art unique to each client and don’t plan on stopping any time soon,” they said.

"I love all the tattoos I do, but my favorites are definitely my original designs," Nuñez said.

"Picking a favorite tattoo is like trying to pick a favorite child,” Valenzuela said. “It's impossible to pick one, but I love tattooing my original designs the most."
