SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

Blazing new trails

President Don Williams, left, of the Gadsden Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) presents SAR’s fire safety commendation medal and award to New Mexico State University firefighter Robert Boehms.  “During regular building inspections to enforce the fire code, Boehms realized many occupants of high-hazard buildings did not realize the fire danger of overloading electrical circuits and improper use of extension cords,” Williams said. “Boehms took it upon himself to create a specialized class on the proper use of power cords, power strips and general electrical safety and then conducted a series of classes for the NMSU community on electrical safety.” The award was presented this month.
