Branigan Library’s ‘Celebrate Authors’ returns in September; authors wanted

Posted

After a year off because of Covid-19, The Friends of the Branigan Library (FBL) will host Celebrate Authors 2021, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, in the boardroom and Roadrunner Room on the second floor of the library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.

Event organizers are looking for local authors to sign up and participate in the event.

The event will be held live and in person unless public health orders mandate otherwise.

The event is free and open to the public.

Celebrate Authors 2021 will feature authors from Las Cruces and surrounding area with books published in 2019, 2020 and 2021. About 40 authors will be invited from the nearly 200 authors with books at Moonbow’s Book Nook, 225 E. Idaho Ave.,  No. 32.  Participating authors will be confirmed by July 15.

Moonbow Alterations and Moonbow’s Book Nook are sponsoring this year’s event.

FBL started Celebrate Authors in 2014.

The in-person event will not have refreshments available except for bottled water because of public health orders. Hand sanitizers will be available. There are also restrooms on the second floor of the library, and there is an elevator. Instead of gift bags for each author this year, FLB will make a monetary donation to a children’s literacy group.

Joy Miller is this year’s event coordinator, assisted by Nancy Baker and Alice B. Davenport. Anyone who wants to volunteer for the event would be welcome, Davenport said.

For authors who want to sign up for the event and for more information, contact Miller at joyemmamiller@gmail.com and Davenport at 575-527-1411 and adavenport@totacc.com, or visit her at Moonbow’s Book Nook.
