Centennial High School senior wins Distinguished Young Women scholarships

Salma Barragan, a senior at Centennial High School, was named the 2022 first alternate distinguished young woman of New Mexico, Distinguished Young Women of New Mexico (DYWNM) State Program Chair Dora Jasso announced to the Bulletin.

Barragan was evaluated on scholastics, talent, fitness, self-expression and interview skills with a panel of five judges for the award, Jasso said.

Barragan earned $2,550 in scholarships as part of her award and is now eligible for additional scholarships from colleges and universities across the nation, Jasso said.
