Bulletin report

After more than four years at the helm, Steve Chavira is no longer the executive director of the Las Cruces Home Builders Association.

Chavira confirmed that on Monday, March 21, the organization’s board of directors decided it was time to part ways.

“It was pretty straight forward,” Chavira said. “When you work in the nonprofit world, you’re at the will of the board.”

He said he did not want to speak about specific reasons given for the split, he is proud of his tenure with the association and will continue to support the group.

“You work hard at what you do,” he said. “I still support them.”

A call to board president Max Bower of Red Mesa Design was not immediately returned. A staff member with the association said the group had no comment, but said the board had a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, and more information might be available afterward.
