Check out the spring seed collection at Branigan Library

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library’s (TBML) spring seed collection is now available at the library’s Tierra Sagrada pop-up seed library, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

The seed library was started in the fall of 2020 to encourage Las Cruces residents to “learn more about local food systems and regionally adopted community seed saving projects,” the city said.

Seeds acclimated to the spring growing season are available while supplies last.

Each library patron may check out 10 packets of seeds per season on his or her library card. There is no return date, but patrons are encouraged to learn how to save seeds and eventually make a seed donation back to the seed library, the news release said.

Community members who are interested in donating seed are asked to fill out a donation form to provide information on seed provenance and cultural history to help TBML build a regionally adapted community seed saving project.

The seed library is at the TBML reference desk. The library is located at 200 E. Picacho Ave.
