Chile Drop to welcome the new year on Downtown plaza

Las Cruces eighth annual Chile Drop will begin at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, as the city rings out the old year and rings in the new.

The event will be held on Plaza de Las Cruces in Downtown. It is free and open to the public.

KVIA-TV news anchor and New Mexico reporter Kate Bieri will serve as grand marshal, Las Cruces radio personality Ernesto Garcia will be the evening’s emcee and DVJ ALI is the DJ. Featured live musical performers will be The Memphis Band.

The Chile Drop will also include a beer garden, food trucks, vendors and a midway.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership, with KVIA-TV, Adams Radio Group and Farmers Insurance as co-sponsors.
