For the second year in a row, Morning Star Church of Las Cruces will perform free weddings 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Plaza De Las Cruces, 100 N. Main St. downtown, the church said in a news release.

Couples may drive through or walk up to participate, the church said. Reservations are encouraged but not required. The weddings will be facilitated by Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz and friends of Morning Star

Church as a gift to the community of Las Cruces, the church said.

"It was such a joy to take part in the special day of so many couples last year," Wilson Feltz said. "It is our hope that these free outdoor ceremonies at the Plaza de Las Cruces continue to enable people in our community to celebrate their commitments in a low-stress, fun and safe environment.”

Couples who are married during the will receive a professional photograph to commemorate the day. Flowers, cupcakes and sparkling cider will be provided for the couples while supplies last.

For the ceremony to be legally recognized as a marriage, an official marriage license must be obtained from the Doña Ana County Clerk’s office before the ceremony. The clerk’s office is located in the Doña Ana County Government Building, 845 N. Motel Blvd. Appointments to obtain a marriage license are

available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, the church said. Two weeks’ notice is recommended to ensure availability of appointment. Call 575-647-7421 for more information. Visit donaanacounty.org.
