City Council to Meet for a Work Session on November 9

Posted

The Las Cruces City Council will meet via video conference for a Work Session at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2020.

City Council will be updated on the East Lohman Avenue Development Plan. The City has contracted with Sites Southwest to prepare a development plan for City-owned property generally located south of east Lohman Avenue and west of south Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.

One task of the project has been to prepare an Existing Conditions Report. Sites Southwest will present a summary of the report to City Council. The report highlights potential issues, key opportunities, site connectivity, potential land uses, and includes an initial real estate analysis.

City Council will be asked to provide its initial input and comments. The report can previewed at https://www.planeastlohman.com/documents.

The Parks and Recreation Department has recently completed an assessment of the condition of the Las Cruces Skate Park, on Walnut Street, with a consultant, American Ramp Company (ARC). The assessment includes recommendations regarding planned improvements for the skate park.

The City received $845,000 in state legislative capital outlay funding for renovations at the park and could soon receive an additional $100,000 for planning and design of a new skate park. The City will begin skate park renovations and commence design of a new skate park in early 2021.

ARC will describe the assessment process undertaken so far and City staff will update Council on the proposed projects for skate park renovation and skate park design and construction.

Additionally, a presentation to City Council has been prepared on the 2020 Ethics Survey. In accordance with the Legal Department’s Mission and Strategic Business Plan, the ethics survey has been completed and the survey’s results will be presented.

Also, Parks and Recreation Department staff members will present an overview and provide information to the Council about the City’s Juvenile Citation Program and the area it serves.

The work session will be televised live on CLC-TV, Comcast Cable channel 20. It will also be available online at clctv.com and at YouTube.com/clctv20.
