The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will host a Virtual Spring Marathon, beginning April 4.
This no-cost program is for individual participation or groups of five or less participating together, the city said in a news release.
Participants can complete the 26-mile virtual marathon over six weeks from any location they choose, running, jogging or walking on a Las Cruces trail, on a treadmill or in a local park at their own pace and keeping track of their own time.
Participants will need a fitness tracker to track miles covered and will need to submit daily/weekly photos of their participation. They will receive notifications of status weekly.
Upon finishing the 26-mile marathon at the end of the six-week period, participants will receive a tee shirt for their accomplishment.
Registration is March 15-26. A pre-marathon Zoom meeting will be held March 31 for registered participants.
