The Las Cruces Museum of Art’s (MOA) next “Listen to Your Art” lecture is at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, via Zoom, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

During the lecture educator Candace Printz will explore the life and work of German artist Käthe Kollwitz.

Printz taught art at El Dorado High School in El Paso for 15 years and is now the assistant director of fine arts for the Socorro Independent School District in El Paso. She has won recognition for her efforts in promoting environmental awareness, including the Texas Environmental educator of the year award, the news release said. Printz has a bachelor of arts degree in art education from UTEP and a masters of art education from Texas Tech University.

In 2019, Printz helped create the nonprofit Green Hope Project, which focuses on art, education and environmentalism, the city said.

Kollwitz (1867-1945) was a German graphic artist and sculptor who was an eloquent advocate for victims of social injustice, war and inhumanity, according to www.britannica.com.
