The Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science (MONAS), 411 N. Main St. Downtown, will reopen with in-person programming in July, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.
July programs at the museum are free but require pre-registration. To register, send an email to education@las-cruces.org or call 575-522-3120 prior to the registration deadlines listed.
Pursuant to state health orders, social distancing and mask are required, the museum said.
Here is July programming at MONAS:
- “Nature and Science Discovery Pre-K: Animal Homes,” 9-10 a.m. Thursdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Preschool-age children and a parent or caregiver are invited to investigate nature and science through hands-on explorations, stories and crafts at home. Programs will be held outdoors in a shaded area. Recommended for ages 2-5. Register by June 19.
- “Saturday Family Science – Automata,” 10-11 a.m., Saturday, July 10. Use cams and levers to create your own moving, mechanical puppet. Recommended for ages 6 and up, with adult caregiver participation required. Registration closes June 26.
- “STEAMpunk – Garrett Morgan, Inventor,” 10-11 a.m., Saturday, July 17. Experiment with materials to create a water filtration system. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Registration closes July 3.
- “Sharks!” 11 a.m.-noon, Saturday, July 24. Dive into the world of sharks with the MONAS Nature Center. All ages. Registration closes July 3.
