City museums host Winter Festival

The Las Cruces Museum System will host a “Winter Festival” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, with holiday-themed activities for all ages will at four Las Cruces museums in the Downtown area.

Activities at the Museum of Art (MOA) and the Museum of Nature and Science (MONAS) include helping Santa deliver presents by designing a Christmas catapult and decorating a pop-up greeting card.

Visitors can create a candy train at the Las Cruces Railroad Museum (LCRM).

Branigan Cultural Center (BCC) is celebrating Kwanzaa at Winter Festival this year. The name Kwanzaa comes from the Swahili phrase “matunda ya kwanzaa,” “first fruits.” Learn more about Kwanzaa and make a first fruits Kwanzaa candle that you can give as a home-made gift.

MOA, MONAS and BCC, 501 N. Main St., are accessible via RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 1. LCRM, 351 N. Mesilla St., is accessible via RoadRUNNER Transit Routes 4 and 7, Stop 1.
