The City of Las Cruces Art Board and Las Cruces Public Art Program are looking for artists to compete in the debut of “Chalk the Plaza” sidewalk art competition.
The event will be held noon-6 p.m. Saturday, April 29, as part of the ¡MIRA! Las Cruces spring festival, the city said in a news release.
Artists must complete an application form and submit a concept sketch to be considered. Artists will be chosen from the submitted applications by the City Art Board selection committee. Selected artists will be notified Friday, April 7, the city said.
The deadline to submit an artist application is Saturday, April 1, the city said.
“Chalk the Plaza” will take place on east Organ Avenue, between Plaza de Las Cruces and Bank of the West. 10 artist blocks are available.
Prizes will be awarded for people’s choice and Best of Show winners, the city said.
