Doña Ana Community College will host a musical performance and a movie as part of DACC’s celebration of Black History Month.

Both events are free and open to the public, DACC said in a news release.

The DACC Library will show the film “Marley” in two parts, both from noon-1:30 p.m. in the DACC library academic resources building, room 5, on the East Mesa campus, 2800 Sonoma Ranch Blvd. Part one will be shown Tuesday, Feb. 21; part two will be shown Thursday, Feb. 23.

Then, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, DACC will offer a presentation and performance entitled “Reggae Music: History and Social Significance” by Jayta Rhedman, a songwriter, performer and reggae artist from Miami, Florida. The event will be held in the DAAU building on the East Mesa campus.

Rhedman will discuss the history and social impact of reggae music and its key elements and will perform several songs, DACC said.
