Council to continue managing theater

At its Monday, June 20, regular meeting, the Las Cruces City Council voted unanimously to continue its agreement with the Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) to manage the Rio Grande Theatre (RGT).

The resolution approved by the council allocates $120,000 to DAAC for the third year of its five-year agreement with the city, which began in June 2014.

Mayor Ken Miyagishima and members of the council said they would like to see more specific data on how successful the theatre is under DAAC management; and they agreed to provide the theatre specific goals for its future operation.

“What kind of hard information do we have?” asked Councillor Olga Pedroza. “Are there plans to reach certain numbers? What are those numbers?
