County extends deadline to apply for CARES act

Doña Ana County extended the deadline through Saturday, Dec. 5 for residents to apply for grants that help pay for expenses associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

      Residents who have fallen behind on rent, mortgage or utilities payments may apply for a grant of up to $4,000 per household to help pay for those necessities.

      Tierra Del Sol Housing, on behalf of Doña Ana County will continue accepting assistance applications from residents of Doña Ana County, outside the City of Las Cruces, for the CARES Act Rental and Housing assistance program.

      To qualify, applicants must be 30 days or more past-due for rent or mortgage payments; have a documented loss of income of at least 30 percent or loss of employment, after March 1.

      Applications are available from Tierra Del Sol Housing Corporation or at www.donaanacounty.org and must be submitted to Tierra del Sol, 210 E. Idaho Ave., Las Cruces, NM  88005.
