New Mexico 17,517 cases, 481,531 tests (3.638% pos), 588 died, 6,870 recovered, 154 hospitalized. July 20: 17,215 cases, 476,497 tests (3.613%), 578 died, 6,814 recovered, 154 hospitalized.

Doña Ana County 1,786 cases, 43,774 tests (4.08% pos), 14 died, 677 recovered. July 20: 1,737 cases, 43,406 tests (4%), 14 died, 661 recovered.

Regional hospital report: 36 positive COVID-19 admissions reported July 15 (update expected this week) in hospitals in Doña Ana, Catron, Socorro, Grant, Sierra, Luna, Lincoln, Hidalgo and Otero counties, with 112 ICU beds (65 in use), 84 ventilators (14 in use) available; no report on how many ICU beds/ventilators are being used by COVID-19 patients.

What is COVID-19?  (World Health Organization [who.int])

Several coronaviruses cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to the more severe Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The newest coronavirus causes COVID-19 (for coronavirus disease 2019), unknown before it began in Wuhan, China in December 2019. The most common symptoms are fever, dry cough and tiredness. Less common symptoms include aches and pains, nasal congestion, headache, conjunctivitis, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell or a skin rash or discoloration of fingers or toes. Symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but only have very mild symptoms. About 80 percent recover without needing hospital treatment. About 20 become seriously ill and develop difficulty breathing. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart and lung problems, diabetes or cancer are at higher risk of serious illness.
