NMSU men to face St. Mary's in NIT

NM State received an automatic bid to the NIT and will play at Saint Mary's in Moraga, California in the first round at 9 p.m. (MT) Tuesday, March 15. The game will air on ESPN2.

The Aggies (23-10) are seeded No. 7 in their region – Valparaiso is the No. 1 seed – with the Gaels (27-5) as the second seed.

NM State is led by WAC Player of the Year Pascal Siakam, who averages 20.3 points on 55 percent shooting, 11.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.7 assists per game. He has 26 double-doubles on the year.

NM State fell 57-54 to CSU Bakersfield on a buzzer beater in the championship game of the WAC Tournament Saturday, but earned an automatic bid to the NIT as the WAC regular-season champion. This is NM State's fifth overall appearance in the NIT and first since the 2000 season.

The Aggies are 1-3 all-time against Saint Mary's. NM State fell 83-71 in the last meeting on Nov. 18, 2014.

The winner of the game will play the winner of No. 3 seeded Georgia (19-13) and No. 6 seeded Belmont (20-11) in the second round.
