DA, Uber offer free rides for holiday weekend

Bulletin report

District Attorney Mark D’Antonio and Uber are urging Las Cruces residents to plan ahead before celebrating the Fourth of July.

Uber will offer new users a $15 credit which is enough to cover the majority of rides requested in the Las Cruces area. New users can access the free ride credit by downloading the Uber app and entering the promo code STAYSAFELC.

“I encourage everyone who plans on celebrating with alcohol to designate a sober driver or request an Uber,” D’Antonio said. “If you are caught drinking and driving, you will be prosecuted.”

“We are so pleased to partner with the Doña Ana DA’s office to offer this safe and affordable transportation alternative for local residents,” said Steve Thompson, General Manager of Uber New Mexico. “We encourage people to take advantage of this campaign by making the smart choice not to drink and drive.”

As part of the ongoing partnership, Uber will also donate $5 to the Shattered Lives campaign for every new user who signs up and takes their first ride using the promo code.
