DOÑA ANA ARTS COUNCIL

DAAC is back!

Posted

The Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) has re-opened.

DAAC’s office and its Arts and Cultural Center, 1740 Calle de Mercado in the Bulletin Plaza, re-opened Monday, May 18, after being closed since March because of state public-health orders.

The office and gallery are now open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, said DAAC Executive Director Greg Smith.

“In order to make sure everyone stays safe and we remain in compliance with Gov. Lujan Grisham’s guidelines, we encourage people to call and make an appointment before they visit the DAAC office or gallery,” Smith said. “We ask everyone to wear a mask, social distance and wash their hands when they visit the Arts Council and when they are out in public.”

Pastel work by artist Dinah Swan in a show entitled “Animal Magnetism” is currently on display in the gallery and will be available for one additional week. Swan’s exhibit has been “isolating” in the gallery since early March. Visit her website at www.dinahswan.com.

Free DAAC-sponsored online art history seminars and a limited number of online visual art workshops will continue through the month of June. To register or for more information, visit www.daarts.org/classes-workshops/.
