Delightful ride

Posted

Several months ago I broke my knee cap. I am 75 years old and active. I cannot ever recall not being able to drive myself since I was 16.

I needed to get to doctor appointments, physical therapy, meetings, classes, etc. I explored all options – getting rides from others, Uber, taxi, bus. To my absolute delight, I discovered that Las Cruces has a REALLY good transit system with the nicest folks to help me navigate it. It was clean, safe, timely, efficient, able to meet my transportation needs and free!

Transit equity is critical to a community. Las Cruces and Doña Ana County could be a beacon, a model for the rest of the state (and country) if we continue to make necessary investments. While the cost up front is significant, in the long term, the return on investment for our city, our communities, our neighbors and, more important, climate change, is worth it.

I’ve wondered, as I age, how I will continue to get around. Now I know that Roadrunner Transit is ready to cover my transportation needs with east.

Thank you, Roadrunner!
