DOÑA ANA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Dental-hygiene students place second nationally

Posted

The dental hygiene program at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) won second place in a national competition.

The competition, put on by the American Dental Hygienists Association, included videos from 20 student dental hygiene programs from across the country.

DACC’s students entered a 3.5-minute video detailing how they’ve managed their education and clinical experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DACC program received a $1,000 award for the student club. The funds will be used for community service projects, such as oral hygiene education, activities, clinics and more.

Entries were received from top-tier universities, along with a handful of community colleges.

DACC students highlighted their use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the video in order to safely examine patients during hands-on lab classes. The classes allow them to provide care to actual patients at the DACC clinic.
