MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

Diez y Seis de Septiembre celebrated in Mesilla

Posted

Photographer Tabitha Rossman caught the Mexican independence day celebration in Mesilla over the Sept. 11 and 12 fiesta this year. Piñatas, jumping balloons and a greased climbing pole were part of the day as well as food and craft vendors.

"I love taking photos of Ballet Folklorico," Rossman said. "They do such an amazing job. Then it was very interesting and very cool to see the Las Perlas del Pueblo. It was such a very eventful fiesta for the Mexican independence day.

Sept. 16 is celebrated in Mexica as the day a group officially rebelled against Spanish rule in 1810.
