Digital learning programs expand NMSU online offerings

Posted

The Office of Digital Learning at New Mexico State University has rebranded its online offerings to form NMSU Global Campus, uniting credit and not-for-credit options to provide a flexible digital learning journey for students.

NMSU Global Campus consists of what was previously known as NMSU Online and NMSU On Demand. Now unified as NMSU Global Campus, the new structure will better serve students who want to earn their degrees and supplement their resumes.

“Through this initiative, we will better support regional, national and, ultimately, international expansion of our online division by repositioning our brand as a holistic global effort, both in terms of business-to-consumer student acquisition and business-to-business partnership acquisition,” said Sherry Kollmann, NMSU associate vice chancellor for digital learning.

According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, online colleges and universities enrolled 2.8 million students in 2020. Every year, 10,000 New Mexico residents on average choose to study online with out-of-state education providers, and just 4,000 out-of-state students choose to study at New Mexico institutions.

Through NMSU Global Campus, the university will continue to evolve online programs, courses and overall operational readiness to support growth and meet the emerging needs of students and the state’s workforce.

This evolution will help support the university’s five-year growth strategy to scale NMSU’s online student populations to 5,000 students by the end of fiscal year 2026, and position NMSU Global Campus as the top provider of online higher education in New Mexico and beyond.
