Doña Ana County receives audit award

Posted

Doña Ana County received the large county audit and accountability award from the New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC) and the State Auditor’s office, NMAC Administrative Services Director Susan D. Mayes said in a news release.

The award was presented Jan. 19 during NMAC’s legislative conference.

It was one of several awards presented “in recognition to large, mid-size and small counties for outstanding work on their audits, submitting timely audits and sustaining excellence with the highest audit opinions,” the news release said. “A good audit reflects a county’s strong finance department, elected officials, and management.”

It is Doña Ana County’s fourth award since fiscal year 2011, NMAC said.

San Juan and Sandoval counties also received large-county awards.

Lea, Lincoln, McKinley and Roosevelt counties received mid-size county awards. Guadalupe and Quay counties received small county awards. Cibola County received the most improved award.
