DOWNTOWN LAS CRUCES PARTNERSHIP

Downtown Las Cruces Partnership receives Main Street America accreditation

Posted

Downtown Las Cruces Partnership (DLCP) has been designated as an Accredited Main Street America (MSA) program for meeting rigorous performance standards, DLCP said in a news release.

DLCP’s performance is evaluated annually by New Mexico Main Street, which works in partnership with MSA to identify local programs that meet national performance standards, the news release said. Evaluation criteria include fostering strong public-private partnerships, supporting small and locally owned businesses and actively preserving historic places, spaces and cultural assets.

“We are very proud to receive MSA accreditation,” said DLCP Executive Director Jennifer Garcia Kozlowski. “We work tirelessly to help our downtown community grow. Promoting community-based economic development drives us daily and receiving this accreditation will not only heighten our visibility but also increase the opportunity for resources and support to the work that we, as a district and a city, know is critically important.”

“We are extremely proud to recognize this year’s 863 nationally accredited MSA programs that have worked tirelessly to advance economic vitality and quality of life in their downtowns and commercial districts,” said MSA President and CEO Patrice Frey.

DLCP is a coalition of downtown stakeholders that works in a collaboration with the City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County and the state of New Mexico to create and support a climate for the emerging businesses and an environment that stimulates future business development.

In 2021, MSA programs generated $5.76 billion in local reinvestment, helped open 6,601 net new businesses, generated 30,402 net new jobs, catalyzed the rehabilitation of 10,595 historic buildings and leveraged more than 1.4 million volunteer hours.
