Family Fun Walks continue in July, August, September across Las Cruces

The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department is continuing its Family Fun Walks – five-kilometer (3.1 miles) events at locations from west Picacho Avenue to Sonora Springs Boulevard.

These events will offer giveaways, water and fruit for all participants, the city said in a news release, along with music and games.

Here is the schedule:

  • Saturday, July 23, Triviz Trail, 2500 N. Triviz Drive, near Kohl’s department store.
  • Saturday, Aug. 6, Wetlands Trail, Sage Crest Park, 601 Roadrunner Parkway.
  • Saturday, Aug. 20, La Llorona Park, 3440 W. Picacho Ave.
  • Saturday, Sept. 3, Desert Trail Community Park, 3492 Sonora Springs Blvd. This final walking event in the series will be a special “color walk.” Tee shirts will be provided to participants of all five walks.

Check in for all events begins at 7 a.m. the day of each walk.

The cost is $2 per person, per walk.

A minimum of two and a maximum of five people is allowed per family unit. Each race is capped at 50 participants. No pets are permitted.

Parks and Rec is accepting on-going registration 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.
