Tuesday, Aug. 24, was filing day for candidates for municipal offices, school boards and other local governing boards in Doña Ana County and across the state.

As of 11:30 a.m. today, more than two dozen candidates had filed to run on the Nov. 2 ballot for municipals offices (mayor in Anthony, Hatch and Sunland Park; city or town councilor or trustee in Las Cruces, Mesilla, Anthony, Sunland Park and Hatch; and municipal judge in Mesilla, Anthony and Sunland Park; seats on the boards of education of Las Cruces Public Schools, Gadsden Independent School District and Hatch Valley Public Schools; seats on the boards of supervisors of the Doña Ana and the Caballo soil and water conservation districts; and seats on the Lower Rio Grande Public Water Works Authority Board, the Anthony Water and Sanitation District Board and the L Union and the McClead Watershed District boards.
