Film Las Cruces and Rio Grande Theatre are partnering to showcase local filmmakers, amateur or professional, once a month with the first screening on Wednesday, May 4, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

Each monthly session of “The Wrap,” Las Cruces’ and Doña Ana County's monthly filmmakers’ hangout, will kick off with a filmmakers Q&A for the community to engage with the film industry, followed by a compilation of films made here in Las Cruces, the news release said.

Admission is free. Q&A starts at 6:30 p.m.; screenings start at 7 p.m. Available concessions include snacks, refreshments, beer, wine and spirits.

Film Las Cruces is currently accepting submissions for all forms of video content, from high school students to professionals. Content could include segments from school broadcasts, short films, commercials, music videos, documentaries or time-lapses, the city said.

“Every creative in the Las Cruces area is encouraged to submit a project that they would like shown on the big screen,” the city said.

Film Las Cruces is the nonprofit created to bring film and television production to the city and county.
