Special showings of a film shot in Las Cruces plays Feb. 3-9 at Allen Theaters, Telshor 12.

“The Locksmith,” a feature film produced by Mark David and Roger Goff, was filmed from mid-November through mid-December 2021 in Las Cruces and other parts of Doña Ana County.

Starring Ryan Phillippe, Kate Bosworth, and Ving Rhames, “The Locksmith” is the story of an expert locksmith fresh out of prison after a job gone bad. Back home, he tries to work his way back into the life of his daughter and his ex-girlfriend, who is now a police detective. Determined to make a clean start, he is forced to use the only skills he has a gifted locksmith. However, things soon get complicated after an unexpected kidnapping.

Directed by Nicholas Howard, whose credits include the television series “Yellowstone,” the production employed close to 65 New Mexico crew members and 200 New Mexico background talent.

“Making this film in southern New Mexico has been a huge benefit for us,” Producer Mark Goff said at the time. “The locations are stunning, the weather is beautiful, the people are welcoming and helpful. I can’t imagine a better production experience or where else we could have made this film that would have been better.”
