Posted

The Airbase Arizona Flying Museum and the Flying Legends of Victory Tour will bring an iconic World War II warplane to Wings n Wheels Fest 2021 at Las Cruces International Airport Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26. The plane will be open to the public for ground tours 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, and 2 to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Sept. 24-26. The B-25J, “Maid in the Shade,” served with the 319th Bomb Group, 437th Squadron, at Serragia Airbase in Corsica, Italy during WWII. It drew 15 combat missions over Italy and Yugoslavia Nov. 4 to Dec. 31, 1944. After the war, the plane was used as a trainer before being sold at auction and used as an insect sprayer. It was acquired by Airbase Arizona in 1981 and flew again beginning in 2009. You can book a ride online at www.azcaf.org/tour or by calling 480-462-2992.
