ArtForms names members’ show winners

Vicki Conley was awarded first place in the ArtForms Annual Members Show that continues during February -- For the Love of Art Month -- at the Doña Ana Arts Council Arts and Cultural Center gallery, 250 W. Amador Ave.

Conley’s artwork, titled, “Slot Canyon,” is a fabric-quilted wall hanging. Conley is a member of Las Colcheras Quilt Guild.  

In second place in the contest was Artforms artist Rebecca Courtney, with her large-format acrylic painting, “Organ Mountain Morning.”

Thomas Gallagher took third place with his photograph, “Desert Brush Still Life.”

Honorable mentions went to Roy Van der Aa for “Belly Flop,” Dennis Lujan for “TP with Flower,” Noël Sandino for “The Tourist” and Rhoda Winters for “Alamogordo Sawmill.”

The Artforms show continues at DAAC through Feb. 25.

Artforms is a nonprofit founded in 1998 by local artists, including Miriam Lozada-Jarvis, Kelly Hestir, Roy Van der Aa and Flo Dougherty. The artist collective represents a wide range of visual arts, with a mission of ensuring the local creative community is regarded as a revenue-generating industry, and Las Cruces is recognized as an arts-and-culture destination.
