WNM Communications has named John P. Muñoz as sales and engagement director for New Mexico.

It is a return home to Las Cruces for Muñoz, who was director of Sitel call centers in Las Cruces and Albuquerque before becoming recreation director for the City of Santa Fe in 2018.

“Muñoz led and organized the start-ups of three different facilities and was in charge of more than 2,200 employees in three different states, providing technical, sales and customer support,” WNM said in a news release. In Santa Fe, “he implemented innovative enterprises such as the Park Ranger, Recreation on Wheels and Community Tutor programs.”

Muñoz served as president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Las Cruces and board chair and founder of New America School. He has volunteered with Tough Enough to Wear Pink – Cowboys for Cancer Research, March of Dimes, Jardin de los Niños and Big Brother/Big Sisters.

“We are excited to have John on board,” said WNM Communications General Manager Daniel Maszler.

“He brings a great deal of industry knowledge and has a great reputation around the Southwest as a strong and savvy business leader. Beyond that, he was very heavily involved in community work.”

“With so many working and learning from home and with so many businesses changing their service delivery models during and after Covid, broadband is in very high demand,” Muñoz said in the news release. “Our aim is to give our friends, family and neighbors access to our amazing services whether it is ethernet WAN services for an existing and growing business or streaming television as you watch your favorite shows at home. We live and work here in the heart of New Mexico. Count on our team to provide the best customer service possible. The best part is that we are local and you can speak with us directly. We are across the street or up the road.”

WNM Communications was founded in New Mexico as Western New Mexico Telephone Company in 1974. It acquired Mogollon Mountain Telephone Company and has expanded its communication and technology services to more than 5,000 customer locations in more than a dozen New Mexico communities, including Las Cruces.
