Free concert to showcase variety of band music

Posted

New Horizons Band at New Mexico State University (NHB) will be in concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Atkinson Recital Hall in the NMSU Music Building 1075 N. Horseshoe St. on campus.

Admission is free.

The concert program contains a wide variety of band music, ranging from American spirituals, marches and ragtime, said Judy Bethmann, who is the band’s co-director, along with Brian Theodorson.

“NHB is a great venue for musicians to come out of retirement and rekindle their passion for playing and performing,” Bethmann said. “We also provide a group band experience for students that are home schooled. Our season closely follows the NMSU semester schedule starting in late August and ending the following May, with time off for the Christmas season.”

NHB rehearses 7 to 8:15 p.m. each Tuesday at Atkinson Hall.

Dues are $25 per semester or $50 for the season, Bethmann said.
