Girls Leveling Up conference draws 400-plus middle- and high schoolers

Where are tomorrow’s business owners and community leaders coming from? If you had attended The Revolution’s March 8 Girls Leveling Up Conference, no doubt you would have seen many of them.

Wearing a tee shirt with the slogan, “Fill your life with powerful women,” conference co-host and The Revolution co-founder Marci Dickerson said more than 400 girls from Las Cruces middle and high schools attended the conference, which was held at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum.

With dedication, perseverance and a strong worth ethic, “you can accomplish just about anything,” Dickerson said. “I think that was the message today.”

“I was really impressed with the feedback the girls gave us after the conference,” co-host and The Association co-founder Sumer Rose-Nolen said. “It went better than I could have expected.”

Presenters that included New Mexico Economic Development Department regional representative and former Doña Ana County Manager Julia Brown and Las Cruces business owner Cece Meadows (Prados Beaty) were able to “touch the next generation” with their experience and success, Dickerson said.

Dickerson said she and Rose-Nolan were “very grateful” for their partnership with Las Cruces Public Schools on the conference. School counselors selected the girls to participate in the conference and LCPS provided the buses to take them from schools to the museum and back.

Conference sponsors and participants included military recruiters, banks, women-owned businesses like Prados Beauty and New Mexico State University.

Rose-Nolen is the owner and founder of SRN Financial Services. Dickerson owns The Game, Game II and Dickerson’s Catering. They formed The Association in 2019 “to provide ambitious female professionals and entrepreneurs a place to network, develop, connect and support one another through meaningful relationships & expert business-development instruction,” according to its website.
