“We are truly grateful for your commitment,” Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Debbi Moore said Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 13, as the chamber congratulated and welcomed Las Cruces’ newest police officers.

“We appreciate all that you do for us,” Chamber Board of Directors President Craig Buchanan told the officers, who graduated from the Las Cruces Police Academy and became sworn officers about nine weeks ago.

“We are truly grateful for what you’re doing and what you will be doing,” Buchanan said. “We are very proud of you all.”

“We know you face challenges,” Moore said. “We’ve got your backs. You’re there to help us; we’re here to help you.”

The welcoming ceremony was held at the chamber office, the historic Armijo House, 150 E. Lohman Ave.

Each officer was given a gift bag filled with items donated by many Las Cruces businesses.

As part of its Las Cruces 10-4 program, Moore said the chamber will hold events in the coming weeks to show its thanks and appreciation to all LCPD’s nearly 200 officers.
