'Herbal' colonias support

Posted

Executives from the movie “Walking With Herb” present a check for $1,000 to the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico’s COVID-19 response fund for citizens of the 13 colonias of southern Doña Ana County. Pictured are Joe Bullock, author of the “Walking With Herb” book and executive producer of the movie; Terra Winter, executive director of CFSNM; and Ross Marks, director and producer of the movie. The fund was originated by former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, “Walking With Herb” lead actor Edward James Olmos and actor Danny Trejo. This donation brings the colonias segment of the response fund to $50,000. Monday, June 8, it was announced actor and comedian George Lopez, a co-star in “Walking With Herb,” had joined Richardson, Olmos and Trejo in helping fund the project.  To learn more about CFSNM’s COVID-19 response support, visit www.cfsnm.org and click on the Grants and Scholarships tab.
